Winter sports have officially come to a close. Each team held a banquet to celebrate the season and to give awards to the players.

Girl’s Varsity Soccer
Girl’s soccer had an amazing season. The girls showed that hard work really does pay off by winning the Arizona State Championship for Division 2. At the State Championship, they played at Salpointe Catholic and won 1-0.
Most Improved – Jolie Bross
Offensive Player of the Year – Lindsay Shipley and Amanda Furtmann
Defensive Player of the Year – Meredith Reinhardt
Most Valuable Player – Abby Furtman and Taylor Culver
Kathy Reisdorf Award – Dana Gordon
Impact Player of the Year – Alex Szafranski
Inspirational Award – Jeannie Mongan
Play Like a Champion – Kassidy Madrigal

Boy’s Varsity Soccer
The team had an up-and-down season this year, which may be due to the fact that they lost 14 seniors from last year. The team tied the Division 1 State Champions, as well as the Division 2 State runner ups. Senior Connor McLane said, “We showed that we could play with the best of the best.”
Most Improved – Luke Kallner and Brett Barr
Rookie of the Year – Colby Branum and Alex Rider
Coach’s Award – Zade Ghani and Patricio Martinez
Play Like a Champion – Cameron Christoff and Matthew Shell
Most Valuable Player – Kyle Madrigal and Connor McLane

Girl’s Varsity Basketball
The girl’s basketball team had many dedicated members and did some great work. Senior Lauren Safford said, “This season went well and we played hard and worked well as a team.”
Most Improved – Reilly Bettis and Sarah Ziemann
Play Like a Champion – Sarah Phillips
Four Year Letterman – Lauren Loven

Boy’s Varsity Basketball
The basketball team achieved a new record of 7-17. Senior Jeffrey Kindorf said, “This year’s season was a success because it laid down the foundation of what the basketball program is to be in the upcoming years.”
Rookie of the Year – Griffin Bryant
Most Valuable Player – Jeffrey Kindorf
Most Improved – Jeffrey Douglas
Play Like a Champion – Casey Cohen

Boy’s Varsity Wrestling
Boy’s wrestling had the amazing opportunity this year to be coached by Olympic wrestler Angel Cejudo, who never lost a single match during his high school wrestling career.

Cejudo co-coached the team with last year’s coach, John Duff. NDP athletic director Monica Barrett said, “Together, Duff and Cejudo will put together a great coaching staff that will grow the wrestling program and continue to promote the mission of Notre Dame Preparatory.”

Most Improved – Kyle McElroy
Play Like a Champion – Riley Tallman
Four Year Letterman – Leo Pjetrushi and Kyle McElroy

Boy’s Varsity Hockey
Hockey ended this season with a new record of 22-14. Senior Sean Walpert said “It went well, but we could have finished stronger.” However, he is hopeful for next year’s team. He said, “I think we are in a good position to do well next year.”
Most Valuable Player – Cameron Judge
Play Like a Champion – Ryan Poteet
Four Year Letterman – Sean Walpert and Luke Kallner
