Senior Sarah Ziemann represented Notre Dame Preparatory during the Cross Country State Championship on Saturday, November 4. Starting at 8:30 a.m. on Cave Creek Golf Course, Ziemann raced against the top girls cross country runners in Arizona in Division II.

At approximately 84 degrees, the temperature was cooler than her previous races, but her competition was just as fierce. Even though she was the only competitor from NDP, Ziemann did not let her school or her coaches down. She finished the 3.1 mile race in 20 minutes and 53 seconds, 30 seconds faster than her best time last year. Out of the 204 runners in the field, she came in 31st, improving upon her 33rd ranking in all of Division II.

“I wanted another shot at running that state course,” Ziemann said. “I’ve improved every year, and I can’t wait to keep improving in the future.”
