After four years at Notre Dame Preparatory, seniors see Charlie Corona as one of the coolest and nicest people in the school.

The Corona family has been part of the NDP community for more than a few years. Charlie’s sister, Riley, graduated in 2015 with a golf scholarship to The College of William and Mary.

According to Charlie, his sister set a great example during his first couple years of high school, especially regarding success as a student-athlete. Despite having such large shoes to fill, Corona has made his own mark on the school.

One of the biggest ways in which Corona stands out is his amazing personality. He is loved by many for his kindness, honesty and amazing sense of humor.

According to senior Alyssa Williams, who has been his classmate for four years, “Charlie is nice to everyone he meets and always seems to make the class smile.”

Senior Jenna Glovsky put it this way: “Charlie is one of the nicest boys I’ve ever met, and he’s always reliable.”

She went on to give him more praise, saying that he is particularly special not because of one single characteristic but because of his personality as a whole. “He’s so well-rounded. He’s smart, sweet, funny and athletic.”

English teacher Maureen Treadway, one of Corona’s teachers, also has a high opinion of Charlie: “He’s very pleasant, laid back, and he makes others feel comfortable.”

Regarding academics, Mrs. Treadway spoke about how he treats school in a different way than many of her students. He “actually cares about learning and doesn’t care about letter grades,” she said.

This approach has worked for Corona, as he has succeeded in honors courses and earned a place in the National Honors Society.

In addition to being an honors student, Corona has also participated in athletics, specifically Swim, for all four years. In the words of his teammate senior Zain Majeed,  “Charlie is always there, giving it 110 percent no matter the circumstances.”

Majeed also says that Corona is an incredible teammate. “He never says anything bad or mean and, when things get hard, he doesn’t complain, he just does what he’s told. That’s really incredible.”

Another way Corona stands out on campus is how he dresses, especially during school dances. Whether it its a new bowtie, stylish suspenders or crazy socks, Corona finds a way to bring his best during these school events.

This is something he does that others miss out on. School events such as Homecoming or Prom are times to break out and make a statement about who you are.

Corona does not shy away from these opportunities. In fact, his style is so singular that it earned him a spot in Antonio Wycklendt’s story “The ultimate guy’s guide to Homecoming.

Looking to the future, Corona hopes to attend LSU or UofA and major in business. Though he is not yet sure about which direction he will take after college, he would like to either work in marketing at a sports company or focus on entrepreneurship at a clothing company.

Senior Henry Lyons, a close friend of Corona, says, “He’s a great kid who is loved by everyone, and I’m proud to call him my friend.”
